Who is bst?
bst (Basingstoke Sports Trust) is a registered charity, established in 1965. Our mission statement is Supporting Local Communities to Lead Healthier, Happier, More Active Lives. The charity is completely independent and is governed by a group of Charitable Trustees, who volunteer their time to set the strategic direction for the organisation and ensure our charitable purpose is discharged effectively. Day-to-day operations and development of the Charity are the responsibility of our Chief Executive, staff and volunteers.
Most of our work falls under the following two aims, 'More Active Communities' and 'Healthier Communities'. We provide affordable, value for money facilities and activities for sport, recreation and leisure for the benefit of the communities we serve. We provide a diverse mix of sport and leisure opportunities and are an inclusive organisation in all ways. We strive to ensure equality of opportunity for all sectors of our local communities so that everyone may enjoy the benefits of participating in sport and leisure activity.
As well as increasing pariticpation in regular physical activity, we are passionate about improving the mental and physical health of our communities, particularly supporting those groups who most need our help. We provide a range of targeted programmes for Parkinson's, Falls Prevention, Cardiac Rehabilitation and GP Exercise Referral. In addition to expanding our existing groups, we're keen to play an active part in working with our communities to help build personal resilience and improve mental health. We recognise the significant impact that poor mental health has and that this has been exacerbated due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Whether it's going to the gym, taking a swim or participating in one of our health programmes, you'll find our staff welcoming, supportive and friendly and our sites a safe place to be. Many of our customers tell us that the social interaction and the new friends they make is just as important as the activity itself.
We believe it's important for all our stakeholders to understand we are a charity. We're here for our local communities, not for profit. By using our services and investing in the Charity, our customers and corporate partners are all ensuring their money stays within their community and is used to help local people.

The Trust operates two sites: Basingstoke Sports Centre, Basingstoke and bstFitness, Newbury.
Basingstoke Sports Centre is set in an accessible town centre location within Festival Place shopping centre. Easy access and a wide choice of parking options either at Festival Place or within easy walking distance makes it an ideal choice when looking for a sport and leisure facility in Basingstoke.
In addition to its swimming pools, squash courts, mixed gym, separate ladies-only gym - Shape - and sports hall, it has three fitness studios, a pedal studio and a multi-purpose activity room. Between the studios, it holds a wide range of fitness classes - with up to 100 classes taking place each week. The class programme has something suitable for the young and more mature and all levels of ability. The Centre also has an extremely popular soft play area, Jungle Adventure, for younger children and their parents/guardians and a host of childrens and 'young adults' activities ranging from our popular learn-to-swim programme to sports clubs to school holiday programmes.
We also host a Move Wellbeing Suite - a fantastic, bespoke circuit of equipment designed for those 55+ who don't like traditional gyms but would benefit from regular exercise. A bijou activity space, this is one of our most friendly and welcoming places in which to exercise and is designed especially for those who maybe less active/mobile and/or have health conditions and require a little more support.
