fbpx Important Message for Members | Basingstoke Sports Centre

Following a further announcement from Boris Johnson yesterday, we have now entered a further National lockdown.  This means health and fitness operators and gyms around the Country, including Basingstoke Sports Trust, must keep our sites closed for the time being.

Although no end date has been announced, it appears highly unlikely that we will be able to open before mid-February.  As always, we will continue to provide regular updates through Facebook and our websites. Although significant updates will be emailed to you, we would strongly urge you to ‘like’ either the Basingstoke Sports Centre or bstFitness Newbury Facebook page.

As the January direct debit has been taken, this will be used for when the sites can re-open.  We promise you will not be charged for any period that we are closed.  As soon as we have the green light to re-open, we’ll let you know how this will be applied.  No further direct debits will be taken – these will be frozen so you don’t have to take any action.  This protects your membership, secures your current monthly price, and means you won’t have to pay a fee to re-join.  Please do not cancel your direct debit with your bank as this may also cancel your membership.

Please note that the above applies to all direct debit memberships, including swimming, gyms and/or group exercise, rackets, Move and swim school.

For those of you who have pre-paid/paid up front, we’ll automatically extend your membership for the closure period.

Should you have already cancelled your Direct Debit at your bank but wish to keep your monthly membership price and continue your membership benefits when we reopen, please email [email protected] so we can re-add you and then freeze your payments whilst closed.

As you know, we are a registered charity (no. 301731) who has been providing leisure, physical activity and health and wellbeing programmes for over 50 years.  As an independent charitable trust, we do not receive any external funding, generating all our income from membership and activity fees.

We have been extremely humbled by the support you have showed us during the last two lockdowns and, if you can afford it, we would be extremely grateful if you would consider donating your January payment to the charity.  Similarly, we’ve been amazed at some members generosity who have asked that we leave their direct debit running whilst closed as a donation.  If you would like to help in either of these ways, please contact us at [email protected]

We are currently working with our partners MYZONE to offer a selected range of home workouts and classes for all of our members during this time. Please keep a close eye on our Facebook pages for updates about this and how to get free access as a BST member.

For those who wish to take advantage of our more comprehensive online product, bsthomefitness, we’ll make this available to you at £4.99 per month. Due to the significant financial impact that lockdowns are having on our Charity, we are sadly unable to offer this service free of charge as it comes at a cost to us. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience at this very difficult time.  We send you and your family our very best wishes.  Please try to stay healthy, active and safe.  We look forward to seeing you again soon.

From All of Us at BST.
