We send our very best wishes to you, your family and friends and hope you are well and staying safe, particularly if you have had the opportunity to finally venture out for a well-deserved drink or meal or you have managed to book an appointment at the hairdressers to banish the infamous ‘lockdown haircut’.
Further to our last email, we wanted to keep you updated on our reopening plans.
Last week, our Prime Minister stated he would announce the timetable for reopening this week. We are closely monitoring Government updates to learn when “close contact business”, which includes gyms and swimming pools, will be allowed to reopen. We don’t anticipate opening on that exact date as there will be work to do to ensure we are safe for you and staff before we open. This will include reviewing the Government guidance (yet to be published for Leisure Centres) to ensure that the measures we have already taken to be “covid-secure” are correct and compliant, as well as recalling staff from furlough and training them on the new procedures. Once we have an actual date for reopening our sites we will be back in touch with you.
Our approach to reopening
You will not be surprised to hear that we will be implementing a wide range of social distancing and hygiene measures to keep all our members, customers and staff safe when we reopen. As always, your health and wellbeing remain our top priority.
As part of our “Phase one” reopening plans and following on from any guidelines and measures that Government insist we implement, there is likely to be a reduction in our operational hours, smaller classes as part of a revised time table and, in order to comply with social distancing, a reduction in the number of places available on each class.
To ensure that all members have a fair opportunity to participate in activities, a one-hour time limit will need to be introduced. This will also allow the disinfecting of touch points and equipment in-between sessions. All activities in “Phase one” will need to be pre-booked in advance and we will have to limit the number of bookings to one per member per day per activity.
We will continue to review and revise our “Phase one” opening approach weekly and will seek to expand our provision once Government guidelines allow us to.
Over the next two weeks we will be developing ‘walk-through videos’ of the new protocols as well as producing a member’s guidance booklet outlining the new systems and providing information how you can help maintain yours and other’s safety.
To all our members and customers, we want to thank you for your resilience and patience during the lockdown. We will be in contact soon with further details about how we are transforming our sites, what measures we have put in place and a reopening date as soon as we are able. We will email you direct as well as publish information on our website and social media channels.
Until then, stay safe and take care.
