fbpx Sensible precautions against Coronavirus when using the facility | Basingstoke Sports Centre

At BST, the health, wellbeing and safety of our customers and our staff is our first priority.

While we’re aware and understand our customers being concerned about Covid-19, we want to reassure you that as an organisation, and within our teams, we’re monitoring the developing situation extremely closely and we’re following all advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer, Public Health England.  As always, staying active is an important part of staying healthy and protecting against the risk of coronavirus (Covid-19).

There have been no actual or suspected cases of the coronavirus (Covid-19) at either of our facilities.  If this situation changes, we’ll act quickly to protect our customers, staff and local communities.

Our in-house cleaning service ensures that the best cleaning practices are always delivered.  Staff will also be cleaning things such as door handles, push plates, handrails and hand-held equipment more regularly.

With the recent cases of coronavirus across the world, we would like to take this opportunity to remind our customers of some sensible precautions and good hygiene practices that you should take when using the facilities.

Catch It – Germs spread easily.  Always carry tissues and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.

Bin It – Germs can live for several hours on tissues.  Please dispose of your tissue as soon as possible.

Kill It – Hands can transfer germs to every surface you touch.  Clean your hands as soon as you can using soap and warm water for 20 seconds (most effective) or hand sanitising gel. These are available in our centres.  Please wash your hands more regularly throughout the day.

Don’t – touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands aren’t clean.

Wipe It – Please help us keep your gym clean and germ-free by using our disinfectant spray and wipes to wipe down machines in the gym after you’ve used them.

Handshakes – we understand that some customers and staff may prefer not to shake hands at the present time.  Please do not be offended.

Should you feel unwell, please do not use the Centre/Club.  The Government have issued advice for people returning to the UK from an affected area, which we ask all of our customers to take before visiting the facility if this applies to you.  You can find the latest government advice at www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public  Please note that links do change – if the link doesn’t work, visit the home page www.gov.uk and navigate from there.

Should you suspect you have the virus, DO NOT visit your GP surgery or healthcare provider.  Please telephone the coronavirus helpline on 111 for advice.

Thank you for helping us keep your facility clean and preventing the spread of viruses.

Very best wishes,

The Team at BST
