We hope that you, your family and friends are keeping well.
We were really excited to hear some good news in the PM’s announcement on Monday to see some light at the end of the Covid-tunnel. The earliest date we will be allowed to open our facilities is 12th April for gyms, Move, swimming, children’s swimming lessons and rackets (Basingstoke), with group exercise back from 17th May at the earliest. We’re working through the Government and various sport national governing bodies' detailed guidance and will provide further updates on the other activities that can re-start soon.
Please make sure you’ve ‘liked’ our social media pages for news, updates, games, activities, challenges and more. As we get more information about re-opening, we will share it on our social media channels to keep you in the loop! Search ‘Basingstoke Sports Centre’ (Basingstoke) or ‘BST Newbury’ (Newbury) on Facebook.
Once we have confirmation of the re-opening date – the PM has promised at least a weeks’ notice – we’ll write to all members with updated detail on payments and direct debits. Please remember that those who paid in January (who didn’t confirm payment was to be treated as a donation) will not pay any direct debit in April. Almost all our staff are on furlough, so we’re unable to respond to large volumes of emails, so please hang on for the April update on payments.
Lastly, we would like to thank all of our members who kindly donated their membership fees to the charity. The lockdown in November and this latest one has significantly impacted the charity’s finances. We’re looking at how best to raise additional funds to continue delivering our programmes and services to our local communities long into the future. More details on this fundraising campaign and how you can help will follow shortly.
We’re waiting with open arms to welcome you back, but please continue to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe until then.
From all of us at Team BST
